Main Street Marion was recently presented the Freedom of the Road Award by ABATE of Indiana for their promotion of motorcycle safety and inclusion of ABATE of Grant County during the Hog Daze Night motorcycle rally held Downtown Marion on September 18th, 2010.

Main Street Marion is a non-profit group dedicated solely to Downtown development and promotion. The Hog Daze Night rally was created to promote Marion’s history and motorcycle heritage, specifically the coining of the term “hog” as related to motorcycles and forever establishing Marion as the Home of the Hog.

ABATE, or American Bikers Aimed Towards Education, is a not-for-profit, safety, educational, charitable and advocacy motorcyclist organization. According to their website, ABATE of Indiana represents approximately 20% of registered motorcyclists in Indiana, with a membership of over 28,000. Grant County ABATE assisted Main Street Marion with gate security, promotion and general planning of the first-year event.
