Stationed at equal distances around the race track will be umpires, under the direction of Fred Dyer of Indianapolis, one of the oldest motorcycle riders, from the point of years in the saddle, in Indiana. It is the duty of the umpires to see that there is no attempt to pocket a rider, and that every rider observes strictly the rules of the road.
But what ever the rules are, the umpires will aid greatly in seeing that they are enforced, since it is up to them to report anything contrary to the best interests of racing.
