The Daily Marion Chronicle_01.31.1946

Motorcycle races will be held in Marion June 2 and September 8, officials of the Marion Entronuse Club announced here today after returning from the annual district meeting of the American Motorcycle Association in Indianapolis.

The Marion club was represented at the session by A. W. Zirkle and Glenn A. Scott, who said one purpose of the session was to allot sanctions to certain clubs for races on specific dates.

Other programs and activities of the association in the state for this year were outlined.

Officials also reported during the meeting a survey made during the past few years as the result of a safety campaign had revealed the motorcycle as one of the safest vehicles on the highway today.

Scott said the Entrouse club is the oldest continued charter club in the United States. It has been sponsoring races in the county for the past 36 years with the exception of the war periods. Last race was conducted in 1941 at the club site, east of Marion on the Bradford Pike. The races this year will be conducted on the same site.
